Son Tec Ranch Foals |
Son Tec foals are handled from birth and soon become very friendly after a brief period of shyness when first turned out. They are pasture raised from the time they are 3 days old and spend their time out with their dams and other foals learning to be horses. They run through gullies and trees, up and down hills, and play with each other as soon as they are ready developmentally. Because of this activity in a varied terrain their feet and bones grow strong, their agility is assured, and they develop naturally. |
We use Natural Horsemanship techniques with the foals. We don’t exclusively follow any one trainer, but we have taken the best of what they all have to offer and developed our own methods. We touch the foals all over, halter them from their first few days, pick up their feet, and teach them to lead before weaning. Our foals are brought up to be good family, ranch, trail and/or show horses. They should be versatile enough for anything. We attempt to provide an athletic, quiet tempered, friendly, and trainable horse with a solid beginning.

![]() Mary Jagow of Verdemont ranch raised our stud Garlic and she jokes that he has a bunch of cloves running around now. One thing Garlic’s babies have in common is their loving nature. These are the first of Garlic’s foals and they all seem to have inherited his calm and willing disposition. They have all been haltered, had their feet picked up, and have just started leading lessons. We had a farrier out to trim all the mares. Two of the fillies needed the points on their rear feet filed. I just put my arms around their heads and necks and they stood there very politely for the farrier. |

Breed: AQHA
5178958 Mr Cobalt Blue, or Coby as we call him, is already shedding out on his neck and is a beautiful blue roan. He'll be a gorgeous twin to his half sister Tippy; and big guy like his dam. He's already got the conformation -- good straight legs, big hip and high withers. Coby's fast also -- you should see him run around the pasture. He runs up and down gullies, and has lots of difficult terrain to negotiate. |

5151320 Angel spent the first month of her life in the heated garage! Now she hangs out with a yearling who is more of her size. She has her sire's hip, musculature, and pretty face. Angel has two blue eyes and would definitely lend color to your breeding program. My farrier says she's gonna be a big gal from the looks of her. She's fast, a great mover, and shows Dry Doc's and King Ranch heritage. |

5175352 Zolly is a loving and friendly little guy with his sire's disposition and his dam's hip. He has always been so easy to halter and to pick up his feet. He runs around the pasture playing with Coby and moves like a cutting horse. If you like red dun roans he's the horse for you! Look up his dam and sire's pedigrees to see his King Ranch heritage.

5051337 Bred to our bay roan stallion Azuls Goodun for 2008, Moon produced Latino Doc Amigo, a well-formed bay roan colt. He has the same great gaits as his big brother Jessie -- looks like a little dressage horse beside his dam. He's very friendly and people oriented. |

Sugar Jay |

Breed: AQHA
5051336 Rose has done it again in 2008 -- a gorgeous little Garlic clove -- a dunalino colt, Smart Sugar Ray, who looks well muscled already. I love to see this guy prancing around with his tail up in the air. Doug calls him Schwarzenegger because he's so strong. He's probably going to be a big fella from the looks of him. |

2007 - Dolly, Rey, and Jessie |
STs Dollywood Sugarmusic, AQHA 5014484 SOLD |
Dolly will be a great mare for anyone. She's a perfect companion and friend to have. Her half sister Molly is 15'1", and Dolly looks like she is going to have some height too. |
Foaled June 2, 2007 This filly is hard to photograph because she wants to be right with me wherever I am. If she could fit in my pocket, that's where she would be. Dolly may be a dunalino but I can't tell right now. Her sister Polly definitely is, but it didn't become real obvious until she was a little older. This filly has Garlic's personality plus. I love all the foals, but Dolly is really a special gal. Dolly is the sweetest of them all. Her sire Garlic has the King Ranch breeding plus Music Mount and a local stud Kilowatt who was known for his disposition. Her dam Hollywood Sugarmusic has AQHA Supreme Champion Back Stretch, Sugar Bars, and goes back to Poco Buena, Leo, King, and Peter McCue. |

AQHA name/reg pending: Dry Wimpy Rey SOLD |
![]() |
Rey is just a little hunk and a carbon copy of Daddy Dry Garlic Popcorn -- muscular as can be, same gorgeous little head, and big hip. He has the same wonderful disposition as Garlic also. Rey is such a pleasure to watch play every evening with Jessie as he cuts and dodges. He can already turn on a dime and has a big stop. Rey really shows his sire's King Ranch breeding with Dry Doc, Wimpy, Rey Jay, and Sugar Bars; plus the Music Mount on his dam's side. His dam SDC Crystal is 100% foundation by Skipper W horses and out of a mare with Leo, Oklahoma Star, Brush Mount and Plaudit in her pedigree. |

AQHA name/reg pending: Dry Jessie Hancock SOLD |
![]() |
This little guy just floats when he runs around the pasture or trots and canters beside his mother. I've never seen a colt with such gorgeous gaits. He looks like he is collected. And speed, boy he's got it. He just loves to tear around. He's going to make someone a great horse for ranch work or show. Jessie is certainly a little stud colt and although he's very friendly now, he was born with an attitude. He grudgingly lets us pick up his feet, but he lets you know he's in charge or at least wants to be. He comes up for attention all the time now, but I have to admit it took him a while. Jessie knows his name and knows he is really good looking. His sire Azuls Goodun is a son of Azul Caballa Amigo with Blue Valentine, Kansas Badger and lots of Hancock. His dam A Little Bitt Doc is foundation with Dry Doc, Doc Bar, Poco Bueno, Leo and Jessie James. Jessie is probably going to look just like his sire. Goodun is registered bay roan, but according to geneticist Phillip Sponenberg, he is a purple roan. |

![]() Rose’s 2007 foal Smart Roseolena is a palomino with some chrome -- big blaze and two white socks on the rear legs. Roseolena is going to be a golden palomino. I can tell now that she is losing some baby fuzz. She is such a sweetie –put her muzzle up for kisses when she was just a few days old. She follows me around, out of the pasture, practically to the house – can’t get enough loving. Roseolena is the oldest, largest, and most spoiled of the bunch. Holly’s foal Dollywood Sugarmusic is a real doll baby. Her color is unknown – maybe a dunalino but she has a very dark muzzle and some dark underneath her belly. She’s mostly palomino but who knows what she’s going to be when she sheds her baby fuzz. She is very willing and learns quite easily. Dolly is also quite a love and can’t get enough attention. |
Little Bitt’s 2007 bay colt Dry Jessie Hancock is going to be a bay roan like his sire Goodun. He moves like a show horse. His gaits look so wonderful -- like he is naturally collected. He loves to run and is just gorgeous in a field of “blond” foals. He is well muscled and a great mover. He’s a gorgeous well put together colt.
Mariah’s 2007 foal is a light red dun. He’s called JoeJoe for fire, last year’s filly is Tess for the rain, and you know they called the wind Mariah. JoeJoe is so elegant. He stands like he is posing for a picture all the time. His markings on his face and legs are very striking. He has a very curious nature and has become very friendly and approaches you on his own. He is also a quick beautiful mover and really likes to play with the other colts. |
